Maida

Maida is well refined wheat flour which is used to prepare variety of foods like puri, chapatti, paratha, etc. Maida flour is considered as all purpose flour or general purpose flour. Maida flour is prepared by using various grinding processes. In fact the wheat is ground in the roller and then it is filtered through a fine mesh so that maida is prepared. It is actually made from endosperm and is mainly starch.

Maida is actually free from synthetic fiber and also contains protein. Maida is used to prepare pastries and bakery items like bread, biscuits, noodles and toast. Foods made through maida are not considered to be healthy but then too during festive period people like to include maida in their food. The food items made with the use of maida taste great.  In these festive seasons maida is widely used to make snacks for the guests. It is most commonly used in India. In south India mostly it is tapioca. In United States pastry flour is used as the substitute of maida.This maida flour is not only used for home purposes but also used in various industries for the preparation of noodles, cakes and bakery items which are preferred by majority of the people.
